Bay manager Andy Gowens felt his side deserved to win their game against Team Northumbria but said there were many positives to take from the 2-2 draw. “We created numerous chances, enough chances to win more than one game, that’s for sure. We said to the players at half time ‘we’re on top, we should be ahead. We must make sure we don’t give anything away’. Then we got the goal and at 1-0 we looked comfortable, giving a decent performance and creating loads of chances and we opened them up on a sticky pitch. Then they got a deflected goal. I’m getting tired of the number of times I’ve said that. Perhaps we should have closed them down a bit better.
“In the last 3 or 4 games we’ve been playing really well, creating chances but not finishing them off and again today that was the case, but now we’ve stopped the rot hopefully. We’ve now got to build on that result on Tuesday and get the win we deserve.
“They all did well and that includes those that came off the bench. After Jack got that second goal I thought we were going to pull one out of the bag right at the end but it wasn’t to be. It wasn’t a fair result really, and that’s something we’ve said for the last few games. In the end it feels a little bit like a loss because we created so many chances, but the positives massively outweigh the negatives, so yes, I’m pleased.”
