“Starting with two strikers paid off”

After seeing his side defeat Penrith to record their third successive victory, Marc Nash felt that starting with an attacking formation had proved decisive. “With everyone back you could see the players were buzzing to get out and play and there was an air of confidence about the place. We were bold enough to start with two strikers for the first time this season and it paid off with the two early goals that ultimately won the game. The first goal was a great move and T-Bo has a good habit of arriving late and then Jack Walker played a great ball to put Kempster in and he’s done very well to beat the keeper and cross for Robbo to score on his return. We are delighted for Andy as he’s battled back to fitness. However, we conceded too much space and possession without the extra man in midfield and it meant we didn’t win the ball back quick enough. It’s something we spoke about at half time but then Aiden’s injury forced us into a change that again affected our shape. We looked very solid at the back though and restricted Penrith to very little around our box and that was pleasing but we kept going and we should have killed the game off but the keeper has made save after save as well as Liam Brooks hitting the bar with a great effort. Overall, a good, comfortable win and three in a row to set us up for the Vase on Saturday.”
