Whitley take on second top Consett at Hillheads this weekend and will be looking for their third consecutive victory as Nathan Haslam aims to continue his unbeaten start as Bay manager. Since his arrival at the club earlier this month, Whitley have picked up seven points from three games and have climbed four places up the table. Speaking after last Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Ashington, Haslam explained that he would be continuing his policy of giving all his players a chance to prove themselves and a further two changes would be likely for this weekend’s game.
The Steelmen have been one of the title challengers all season but mixed results in recent weeks mean that they can not now catch champions-elect Dunston UTS. Nevertheless, managed by former Bay Vase winner Chris Moore, they will be sure to provide a tough test, as was the case at Belle View in January, when Whitley twice came from behind to earn a 3-3 draw in an exciting contest.
