Whitley’s new management team Tony Fawcett and Derek Forrest have been busy building and strengthening their squad for the coming season with a series of new signings and several of last season’s players confirming that they will be staying at Hillheads.
New signings include Darren Hamilton, a defender signed from Whickham; Liam Barker, centre back, Jamie Dunn, defender/midfielder and James Thompson, midfielder who have all joined us from Tony Fawcett’s old club Ryton & Crawcrook. Former Bay players Ben Richardson and Chris Salmon have rejoined from Newcastle Benfield and Bishop Auckland respectively, while Kieran Brannen has returned after spending most of last season at Ashington. Striker Adam Shanks who scored 40 goals in his first season at Hillheads five years ago has returned to the club hoping to enjoy further success. Midfielder Craig Henniss has signed from Sunderland RCA while winger Jon Weirs (pictured) has joined from Ryhope CW. In addition to these new signings, Mark Robinson has signed on for a second season at Hillheads.
