Whitley have signed midfielder Lewis Suddick from neighbours North Shields. Suddick, who turned 21 earlier this week, comes from a well known footballing family who have previous connections at Hillheads. He is the son of Fraser Suddick, who played for the Bay, and nephew of Jarrod Suddick, who was a regular in the Whitley side during their Unibond Northern Premier League days. He is the grandson of former Newcastle United and Blackpool star Alan Suddick.
Lewis joined North Shields in March from Newcastle United where he had an Academy scholarship. He made 18 appearances for the Robins, scoring three goals. He did not feature for the visitors in last night’s Northern League Cup tie but will be available for Whitley when the sides meet again on Saturday, this time in the league.
We would like to welcome Lewis to Hillheads and we hope he enjoys his time with Whitley Bay.
Meanwhile, two players have departed for pastures new. Michael Bell, who did not feature in the first team this season has moved to Bedlington Terriers and Liam Gillesphey, who made just two appearances since joining after the collapse of Blyth AFC, has signed for Seaham Red Star. We would like to thank both players for their contribution to the club and we wish them well in the future.
