Jack Foalle admitted that he was “very impressed” with his achievement of scoring in nine consecutive games, but was quick to heap praise on his team mates. “It comes a lot from the work rate of the team to get in positions to score. I didn’t think I’d get the goals so quickly but I believe in my capability to score goals and with the team we’ve built, I’ve been able to progress myself massively on. ”
Foalle has been a revelation since returning to Hillheads in the summer, scoring 16 goals in 14 games, clearly exceeding his own expectations. “To be fair I thought to myself I’d aim to try and get a goal a game but I know it’s unrealistic so if I can get somewhere around that I’ll be happy. I gave myself a target of 20 for the season but I think I might have to up that now. To be fair working with someone like Andrei and Dan Taggart makes the target a lot more achievable for me because they take away the pressure, they take away the base runner which gives me the space, so working with a strike partner that’s able to be there and take a little bit of the stress away has been massively helpful in my achievement. It is a team game so if I can’t get a goal myself, if I’m not in a position to score, I’ll try and help someone else to score. But if I hadn’t got my goal I think would have taken the penalty. But I was comfortable to let Gavin have it because he’s got a 100% record tasking penalties so I thought I’d give that one to him and let him wrap the game up!”
