Ross Wilkinson signs for Consett

Central defender Ross Wilkinson has left Whitley Bay to join Consett. Ross signed for Whitley in the summer of 2016 and his commanding displays in the heart of defence together with scoring some crucial goals, made him a popular figure with Bay fans. He was named man of the match when captaining the side in his final Whitley game against Seaham last month.

Despite being sidelined with injury for several weeks earlier this season, Ross made a total of 68 appearances, scoring seven goals. He said he had truly enjoyed his time at the club and it was an extremely difficult decision to leave, but in joining Consett he is moving nearer to his home.

We would like to thank Ross for his valuable contribution to Whitley Bay FC and we wish him the best of luck in the future.
