I am delighted with the players after that display. Not only did they pick up the 3 points but they delivered one of their best performances so far against an in form Bishop Auckland. We put Ross Wilkinson back in the team to combat their aerial strength up front and gave young Kyle Patton a start to give us that extra option in behind with his pace. I thought both were superb along with Aidan Haley’s all action display in midfield. Andy Robertson is getting sharper every week and he caused problems especially in the first half. It took us a little time to get to grips with Bishop’s unorthodox shape but we were dangerous on the break. Unfortunately, the pitch was our undoing again as it blatantly cost us the opening goal when Tom miskicked after a bobble. However, we got a quick reply with Robbo’s calm finish and should have went in front by half time but Kempster missed the chance.
I thought 2nd half was a solid performance with good football. We restricted a dangerous side to very little and once we got in front with Kempster’s goal then it could have been more. Patton hit the bar and Thibault nearly got in twice before Kempster had the ball stolen off his toes when nearly repeating his earlier tap in from another great piece of play from Kyle Patton. We had a genuine penalty shout turned down when keeper barged Callum to the ground. All this pressure was a result of shear hard work by the players which was topped up by our subs who impacted very well. The lads are really enjoying their football and it’s great to see them get their reward with a huge win.
